Why Vote yes:

Regain market share

Checkoff programs will be designed with one thing in mind: building demand. Whether that’s through partnerships with local high schools and vo-techs to create masonry apprentices, or a national advertising campaign promoting the resiliency of block construction, or technology-forward design tools that show exactly how block can be versatile, economical and strong at the same time.

Strength in numbers

With a national checkoff we can go further, faster than any of us could possibly accomplish alone. The CMU Checkoff means every producer will have a team of marketers, researchers, code experts, design assistants and more working to build preference and demand for CMU each and every day.

Support your customers

Mason contractors all over the country have indicated their support of the CMU Checkoff and the positive impact it could have on the entire industry. The national group MCAA and regional mason contractor associations from California to New Jersey are supporting this effort.

Regional and National Support

At least half of checkoff dollars collected will go to work at the regional level to tackle issues and opportunities unique to that area. The remaining funds will go to work at the national level in programs designed to lift the entire industry.

Legacy of block

Over the last 20 years we have gone from four billion block units sold annual to one billion sold annually. Without our checkoff, it’s hard to imagine where we will be in another five years, let alone another 20. And what legacy we will have to pass on to the next generation of producers.

Design Escapes
The CMU Checkoff Initiative was created by producers frustrated with continual loss of market share. That frustration was compounded when program ideas surfaced that could drive demand, but there was no way to fund multi-year, well-funded programs that would change outdated perceptions of CMU.
