Latest Update: One Week at the Helm

June 27, 2022

Monday, June 27th marked my one-week anniversary as the interim CEO for the CMU Checkoff. I am honored to have been given the opportunity to participate in this historic endeavor. Getting the first-ever national checkoff for the masonry industry started right is mission critical to me as I know it is to each of you.

With that in mind, I am committed to posturing the Concrete Masonry Products Board for maximum success and equipping its members with the tools they need as they begin to lay the foundation for the regional and national programs that will move the industry forward. One of those tools includes an interim financing solution. NCMA has been incredibly generous with personnel, contributions and advances to get us to this point. But, once the Board is named by the Secretary of Commerce, we want to tap into a third-party solution so as to move forward independently. Getting this bridge solution in place is a high priority for me in the coming days.

I am also working to increase our communications out to each of you and the industry as a whole. Beginning with this message, we will have a weekly email going out with what’s happening as it relates to the checkoff. We will supplement that weekly email with webinars and mailings as needed.

In the meantime, my proverbial door is always open. You can reach me directly, at your convenience, by phone or by email.

Best regards,

Ray McVeigh

Design Escapes
The CMU Checkoff Initiative was created by producers frustrated with continual loss of market share. That frustration was compounded when program ideas surfaced that could drive demand, but there was no way to fund multi-year, well-funded programs that would change outdated perceptions of CMU.
