CMU Checkoff Check-in: Aug 24

August 24, 2022

I want to start this week by thanking ICPI-NCMA for a great Midyear Meeting in San Diego last week. I appreciate the opportunity to have met personally with so many of you and was overwhelmed by the excitement I heard from so many to have CMU Checkoff moving forward. I was also thrilled to have the opportunity to present to several different committees and at the Town Hall.

I also want to thank Ken White, our Department of Commerce liaison, for attending the convention and being a part of our presentation to the Town Hall. Ken continues to work diligently with us to develop procedures and materials that will allow the Board to jump to a fast start once Board members are appointed.

A highlight of the week was our Regional Advisory Committee information session. We had a fantastic turnout and fielded questions that both validated our initial assumptions for the RACs, but also sparked additional thinking. While specific details regarding RAC appointment and activities remain intentionally undefined to allow the Board the greatest flexibility, we have put initial assumptions into place as to how we envision RACs will function and work both with the Board and across regions. We also are in the midst of creating an online submission form for those who are interested in serving on a RAC that we will share shortly after we have our Board appointments.

As always, please reach out with any questions, ideas or thoughts you may have as we continue to move forward.

Best regards,

Ray McVeigh

Design Escapes
The CMU Checkoff Initiative was created by producers frustrated with continual loss of market share. That frustration was compounded when program ideas surfaced that could drive demand, but there was no way to fund multi-year, well-funded programs that would change outdated perceptions of CMU.
