Successes

Check-off programs have been formally in existence in the U.S. for decades with about 20 check-off programs in operation currently.

Some of the most recognized campaigns from such check-off programs include “Got Milk?”, “Cotton, the Fabric of our Lives”, “The Incredible, Edible Egg,” and “Beef, It’s What’s for Dinner.” Most of the existing programs are related to either farm or energy programs.

There are currently no check-off programs in operation for construction-related materials, though a North American softwood lumber check-off program is in the development process.

Each of the existing programs have numerous success stories related to increasing consumer awareness about the benefits of their products, or creating new markets for the use of their products that increase both sales and demand to the benefit of the producers within the industry.
